| On Brighton Beach Robert W Paul | 1896 | 1 min Adults and children paddling at the water's edge and walking on the shingle as a small boat comes in to shore and then sets off again. The Palace Pier is in the background. This was the first film originated in Brighton. It was shot by R W Paul during the summer of 1896 for inclusion in the programme of his 'celebtrated animatographe' at the Victoria Hall on King's Road, almost immediately above the spot where he placed his camera for this scene. Whichever idiot uploaded this to YouTube without checking facts (could it be an American person?) labelled it as by Edison. What a plonker! |
