Philips' projection television

The Dutch electronics group Philips marketed a projector that more or less coincided with the launch of a television service in Philips' home territory of the Netherlands. At the time only the UK and France already had television services. The picture above shows the projector in use at the teaching hospital at Leiden in the Netherlands.
        It could produce a picture 4ft x 3ft (1.22m x 0.91m). It is not known if it was used for the obvious purpose of promoting the embryonic medium in consumer electronics retailers' showrooms.
