Media > Video > Anthony Spiral 1898 Little is know about this device. E & H T Anthony was a well-established maker of photographic cameras. It was a hand-cranked machine that served as both camera and projector (common at that time), capable of taking 200 images arranged in a spiral on an eight-inch diameter glass plate. At the usual speed of 12-16 fps, that would give a running time of 12.5-16 seconds. That it was marketed is evident from the advertisement itself. It presents itself as a forerunner of the Urban Spirograph. ![]() Page updated 2 February 2004 |
