Sunday Observance Act 1780

1. A house, room or other place opened or used for public entertainment or amusement ... upon any part of the Lord's day, and to which persons are admitted by payment of money or by tickets sold for money is to be deemed to be a disorderly house or place.
Cinemas were exempted under the Sunday Entertainments Act 1932, s4
